The Femino-Ducey Orthopaedic Group represents the best in orthopedic care. We pride ourselves on our experience, expertise, and most importantly, our high rate of success with both joint replacement surgeries and surgery involving sports-related injuries. Each patient we treat is given personal, individualized attention, and an appropriate plan is formulated to return patients to their previous level of activity.

Elimination of pain is the number one goal of our practice. Many patients who come through our doors have lived with chronic pain for a long period of time, so the utmost attention is paid to finding the best way to alleviate pain.

The partners at Femino-Ducey share a mutual respect for the technical proficiencies of one another, which translates into a cooperative spirit that puts the patient first and truly defines the practice.

Treatment Plans
For some patients, medication and a prescribed course of exercise are effective in helping to return patients to their previous level of activity, while others find success with the addition of physical therapy. Many will need surgery to receive a permanent correction to a joint condition or sports injury. Surgery is considered when other treatments do not correct a patient’s condition or help to eliminate pain to the satisfaction of the patient.

Preparing for Surgery
The decision to undergo surgery is one taken seriously by each member of the staff at the Femino-Ducey Orthopaedic Group. Our philosophy is that preparation for surgery is key to a speedy recovery. Once a patient has made the decision to go forward with joint surgery, both your doctor and the health care team from The Orthopedic Spine & Joint Institute at nearby Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, will speak with you to discuss what to expect before and after surgery. Patients will watch educational videos and attend a pre-operative orientation class prior to surgery. Through the OSJI patients also have the opportunity to meet other patients who will undergo similar surgery.

Patients anticipating surgery for a sports-related injury or condition will also find that the same personal care, education and attention is given prior to surgery.

The Femino-Ducey Orthopaedic Group strives to make patients feel as comfortable and knowledgeable as possible before surgery, a distinct advantage for the recuperation process. Much time and effort is expended to insure that patients are accommodated throughout the entire pre-surgery, surgery and post-surgery/recuperation period.

High Risk, Unique Surgeries
Due to our success with more involved and complicated surgeries, some patients rely on us to undertake surgeries that are often termed “high risk.” Our thoughtful, meticulous approach to treating patients as well as our skill in working with biomedical companies to craft artificial implants has earned the Femino-Ducey Orthopaedic Group an outstanding reputation. The unicompartmental “uni” knee (partial knee) surgery, which enables patients to bypass total joint replacement, and rare total femur replacement are just a few examples of state-of-the-art procedures undertaken. Athletes, too, sidelined by knee and shoulder injuries are returning to the playing field after delicate surgeries coupled with an appropriate treatment plan are complete.
